About Us

Get to know the founder of O'Mara Landscaping & Lawn care, Inc.

James O’Mara, a nature enthusiast born and raised on the Emerald Isle, developed a deep love for nature and gardening from a young age. Inspired by the lush landscapes of County Wicklow, Ireland, he began growing vegetables and selling them at the local market. What started as a hobby soon led him to pursue a course of study in Horticulture at Warrentown College. After completing his studies, James traveled to Swaziland, Africa, where he implemented an Agriculture Studies curriculum for a high school, sharing his knowledge and skills. In the mid-1980s, he arrived in the United States and refined his expertise through hands-on work in the landscaping trade. In 2000, James and his wife, Kate, founded O’Mara Landscaping & Lawn Care, Inc., serving the Chapel Hill community with exceptional professional landscaping and lawn care services.
