Get to know the founder of O'Mara Landscaping & Lawn care, Inc.
James O’Mara, a nature enthusiast born and raised on the Emerald Isle, developed a deep love for nature and gardening from a young age. Inspired by the lush landscapes of County Wicklow, Ireland, he began growing vegetables and selling them at the local market. What started as a hobby soon led him to pursue a course of study in Horticulture at Warrentown College. After completing his studies, James traveled to Swaziland, Africa, where he implemented an Agriculture Studies curriculum for a high school, sharing his knowledge and skills. In the mid-1980s, he arrived in the United States and refined his expertise through hands-on work in the landscaping trade. In 2000, James and his wife, Kate, founded O’Mara Landscaping & Lawn Care, Inc., serving the Chapel Hill community with exceptional professional landscaping and lawn care services. “O’Mara did a complete landscaping overhaul. It included extensive pruning and removal of trees and bushes, planting, mulching and the installation of a new drainage system to protect the A/C units. O’Mara and his experienced professionals did an outstanding job not only technically but also aesthetically. It was easy to make an initial appointment. The estimate was received quickly, it was competitive, and the work was performed within the agreed tight schedule. We love our new garden!”
